‘Service chiefs have economic interests’

Security service chiefs “making irresponsible political statements” were doing so because they have economic interests to protect, Mbizo MP Settlement Chikwinya said yesterday.

Introducing a motion in Parliament, the MP said: “The reason why the military is involved in the politics of patronage is because they want personal enrichment and they are not only plundering in the DRC and Chiadzwa. They have also been deployed to head State institutions to ensure they control the economy.”
