Reject PVOs Bill, UN urges ED
NewsDay Staff ·

THE United Nations (UN) has urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to reject the Private Voluntary Organisations (PVOs) Amendment Bill which it says would severely restrict civic space and the right to freedom of association in the country.
Senate passed the controversial Bill on February 1, and it now awaits Presidential approbation.
If Mnangagwa signs it into law, critics say the law is oppressive as it will muzzle government critics on rights abuses and governance issues.
