NewsDay Staff ·

The financially-troubled Redcliff Municipality has resolved to sell 850 housing units in Torwood to sitting tenants under a home ownership scheme to augment its coffers.
Mayor Joseph Matewa said the council planned to inject about $1,250 million towards the refurbishment of 850 houses formerly owned by Ziscosteel before disposing them to the sitting tenants.
Matewa said to date, the council had completed the first phase of the project which included construction of 450 individual toilets at a cost $550 000.
