People know their heroes
NewsDay Staff ·

Assertions by Zanu PF secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa this week that hero status was not for sportspersons, but for people who participated in the liberation struggle once again expose Zanu PF’s shallowness and selfishness.
Mutasa was commenting on why Zanu PF rejected a request by the party’s Bulawayo structures to confer hero status on soccer legend Adam Ndlovu in light of the immense contribution he made to Zimbabwe in national team colours. The issue here is not about Adam being named a national hero, it’s about the warped psychology in the former ruling party that those who participated in the liberation struggle are the only heroes of this country.
