Nkomo, Nhliziyo defect

Two senior Zapu officials, Effort Nkomo and Tryphine Nhliziyo, have reportedly retraced their footsteps back to Zanu PF almost four years after they dumped the party.

Nkomo and Nhliziyo — who have been members of the Zapu national people’s council (NPC), an equivalent of the Zanu PF central committee — joined the Dumiso Dabengwa-led party in 2008 when it pulled out of the 1987 Unity Accord.

Before their defections from Zanu PF, Nkomo held the post of provincial spokesperson while Nhliziyo was the treasurer.
