NGO seeks gender responsive governance
NewsDay Staff ·
Hundreds of young women in the largely rural Shamva district will on Wednesday meet representatives from mining corporates, and local and government authorities to exchange notes on the contributions that corporates and government can make towards a gender responsive social service delivery (GRSSD).
Organised by Institute for Young Women’s Development (IYWD), a grassroots women empowerment NGO, the meeting is set to, among other things, provide a platform to probe how much the mining corporates in Shamva are meeting their tax obligations and how the local authorities are utilising revenue towards GRSSD.
The meeting, which is part of a series of engagements in the Mashonaland Central province, also seeks to promote synergies between communities, corporates and local and national government structures.
