Model’s theft trial opens

Black Opal Face of Zimbabwe (Bofoz) second princess Mercy Kamanura’s trial on charges of stealing a jumpsuit from Edgars valued at $40, opened at the Harare Magistrates’ Court yesterday before magistrate Batanai Madzingira.

Kamanura (24) pleaded not guilty to the offence, claiming the charges were fabricated against her by Edgars staff and that her alleged acknowledgement of guilty statement was extracted from her after she was threatened with spending a night in police custody.

Kamunura is represented by Lovemore Matapure.
