Mnangagwa targets Russian investment at Moscow summit as war in Ukraine reshapes alliances
Nqobani Ndlovu ·

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is in Moscow for the third Russia-Africa Summit, seeking to attract Russian investment in energy, mining, agriculture and digital technology, as Harare looks to offset the economic pressure of years of Western sanctions and deepen ties with a longstanding ally.
Mnangagwa arrived in the Russian capital on Monday for the two-day summit, which begins on October 28 and focuses on trade, investment, food security, artificial intelligence and nuclear energy.
He is also attending in his capacity as chairperson of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), a role that places regional trade integration at the centre of his engagements.
