Miss Carnival pageant cancelled

THIS year’s edition of the Miss Carnival beauty pageant has been cancelled due to lack of funding and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is set to automatically pick one of the Miss Zimbabwe World princesses to represent the country, NewsDay has established.

The pageant had become one of the major highlights of the Harare International Carnival (HIC), which will this year be held between October 8 and 10.

Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Walter Mzembi confirmed the turn of events, saying the crippling economic situation in the country had made bankrolling the beauty fiesta impossible.
