Man acquitted of attempted murder

A 31-YEAR-OLD Chiredzi man was yesterday acquitted of attempted murder charges by Harare magistrate Noel Mupeiwa after he shot his father following a quarrel over an alleged sexual relationship with his stepmother.

Edward Radzokota was facing two counts of attempted murder and negligent discharge of a firearm after he shot his father, Clement Radzokota (61), on his left leg and hand.

Magistrate Mupeiwa acquitted Edward at the end of the State case after he convinced the court that he had acted in self-defence, after his father charged at him with a machete.
