Government targets 7-8% economic growth through smart infrastructure
Boitumelo Makhurane ·

Government is targeting economic growth of between 7% and 8% per year, up from the current 5% to 6%, through increased investment in smart, integrated and technology-driven infrastructure, Finance deputy minister David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa has said.
Addressing the fifth edition of the Zimbabwe Economic Development Conference (ZEDCON) in Bulawayo, Mnangagwa said infrastructure development would be central to the country’s ambition of attaining upper-middle-income status by 2030.
He said ZEDCON 2026, running under the theme “Smart Infrastructure for an Upper Middle-Income Society”, would provide policy recommendations to guide the 2027 National Budget and implementation of the Second National Development Strategy (NDS2).
