Garwe reads riot act to urban planners

LOCAL Government and Public Works minister Daniel Garwe has read the riot act to urban planners, warning them against conniving with land barons to legitimise illegal settlements.

Addressing the Zimbabwe Institute of Regional and Urban Planners (ZIRUP) Annual School Conference 2026 in Bulawayo this Wednesday, Garwe called for a renewed focus on implementation and accountability.

“Are we measuring our success by the plans we produce, or by the improvements those plans deliver in the lives of our people?”
