CJ Malaba escapes jail time

Moses Matenga ·

UNDERFIRE Chief Justice Luke Malaba yesterday escaped jail time after the   High Court ruled that he was entitled to return to work after appealing a High Court ruling  that the extension of his term of office was illegal.

The High Court last month ruled that the extension of Malaba’s term of office was null and void after he turned 70 years on May 15.

Government appealed the decision and Malaba felt that he was entitled to return to work until the matter was heard, but Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum executive director Musa Kika felt that he was in contempt of the court ruling.
