Chivayo faces Parliament probe
NewsDay Staff ·

A KWEKWE activist has petitioned Parliament to investigate the financial dealings of controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, amid growing concern over his alleged corrupt business dealings and their implications on the country’s economy.
The petition by Emmanuel Nkosilathi Moyo emanated from a South African investigation that revealed that Chivayo pocketed R800 million from a controversial tender to supply election materials to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) ahead of the August 2023 elections.
The investigation undertaken by South Africa’s Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) sparked calls for the scrutiny of his business dealings in Zimbabwe and suspected money-laundering.
