Chidyausiku’s call noble
NewsDay Staff ·
With calls for the holding of elections growing louder by the day and politicians insisting on a peaceful plebiscite later this year, the addition of the voice of Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku is indeed timely.
The judiciary plays a fundamental role in ensuring free and fair elections, hence their non-partisan approach in the electoral process will give politicians and ordinary Zimbabweans hope for the credibility of the forthcoming elections.
Chidyausiku while opening the judicial year on Monday called for a violence-free election that will bring to an end the shaky coalition government that has been in existence since 2009 following a hotly-contested and bloody runoff poll in June 2008.
