NewsDay Staff ·

Bulawayo’s water crisis continues to escalate amid revelations that volumes at its supply dams have decreased by at least nine million cubic meters in February to 182 million cubic meters at the end of March.

According to the latest council report, the city’s engineer Simela Dube said the city’s five supply dams — Insiza Mayfair, Inyankuni, Lower Ncema, Umzingwane and Upper Ncema — held 50,2% of their capacity at the end of March compared to 52,19% in February.

“The dams have a total capacity of 362,631,700 cubic meters and in March their total volume was 182,156,068 cubic meters compared to a volume of 189,275,251 cubic meters in February,” he said.
