Byo council defrauded

Bulawayo City Council and International General Insurance (IGI) lost more than $66 000 to a former IGI manager who allegedly converted to his own use part of the monthly subscriptions paid by the local authority to the firm for life assurance cover for its employees.

The accused, Ernest Sewera (58), is denying the charges of theft and fraud.
On Wednesday, he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove who remanded the case to October 22.
