Bogus secret agent arrested

A 46-YEAR-OLD Harare man, Tendai Rusinga, who is employed by the Agriculture ministry, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court last Friday charged with impersonation after he allegedly masqueraded as an agent of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).

Rusinga, who was also charged for failing to secure his firearm, was not asked to plead when he appeared before provincial magistrate Milton Serima who granted him $50 bail and remanded the matter to May 15.

According to the court papers, Rusinga was arrested after police detectives were tipped off sometime in March this year that he was using a pistol to threaten members of the public and that he was masquerading as a CIO agent.
