Be tough with Zim, Malema tells Sadc
NewsDay Staff ·

FIREBRAND South African opposition leader Julius Malema has called on the African Union and Southern African Development Community (Sadc) to be tough in dealing with the Zimbabwean crisis amid a crackdown on pro-democracy activists.
The crackdown has seen over 100 activists detained as government moves to quell protests in the run up to the Sadc Heads of State and Government Summit to run from August 17 to 18 in Harare where Mnangagwa will take over the rotational chairmanship of the regional bloc.
Delivering a public lecture at Rhodes University on Monday this week, Malema chided the continental and regional bodies for turning a blind eye on Zimbabwean issues.
