7 perish in weekend crashes

Seven people died in a road accident along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road early Saturday morning, hardly three days after another fatal crash claimed seven lives in Murehwa, raising fears of a looming bloody festive season, which starts tomorrow.

In a statement, national police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the latest accident involved a Masvingo-bound Munenzva bus. The bus reportedly hit a donkey, veered off the road and rammed into a trailer of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle travelling in the opposition direction.
