500 housing stands for Magwegwe

NewsDay Staff ·

Bulawayo City Council is set to service 546 low-income residential stands in Magwegwe North high-density suburb in a bid to reduce its housing backlog, which now stands at 95 000 people.

According to the latest council report, beneficiaries would be required to immediately pay 35 % of the value of the stands and the balance over an agreed period.

“The houses sold by the council are supposed to bring an increment in the council’s revenue base,” the report said.
