The Zanu PF 6th People’s Congress, which is running till Sunday, started off on what has become usual, the denunciation of Vice President Joice Mujuru and her purported allies.
Women’s League members and other Zanu PF supporters were singing songs in praise of President Mugabe and his wife Grace while the pasi neGamatox slogan remained the major motto of the event.
Officials who have arrived at the venue include Simon Khaya Moyo, Senate President Edna Madzongwe, Acting Harare provincial chairman Godwills Masimirembwa, Harare provincial minister Mirriam Chikukwa, Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda among others.
Officials linked to Mujuru who are present include Francis Nhema, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and Olivia Muchena while Mujuru, Nicholas Goche and Didymus Mutasa are absent.
The day’s agenda does not contain the election of Vice Presidents in what could signal the prospect of Mugabe hand picking his deputies.
