THE Rainbow Netball National League (RANL) bubbles kicked off on Saturday with the defending champions, Correctional Queens, starting on a high note by winning both their matches in Shamva.

They defeated Filchrist and Chibwe Queens.

They scored a total of 157 goals and only conceded 46 goals after defeating Chibwe 84-22 and Filchrist 73 -24.

Correctional also paraded their new acquisition Thandazile Ndhlovu, who is 188cm tall playing as a goal shooter.

She won the Golden Hand in her debut against Filchrist, scoring 51 goals.

Elsewhere at the Glenview Hall Bubble, Flow Angels, under the guidance of coach Tatenda Shinya, were flawless, winning both their games and were the highest scorers with 169 goals.

The new team, JT Highflyers from Gweru, fired some warning shorts, announcing their arrival, when they beat Yadah Queens 54-22.

At Torwood Tennis Court Bubble, Glow Petroleum collected all the points as expected, and so did Black Mambas, who were the hosts at Mkushi Depot Bubble.

Mthala, who also collected maximum points, had to sweat for the two wins at RossCamp Byo Bubble, where all the 3 games were quite competitive.

The Nhlanhla Ndlovu-coached team had to first shake off the challenge of ZRP Bulawayo, backed by home support.

Mthala defeated the police side 51-32 with the 2024 Players player Amanda Ncube scoring 41 goals.

After the ZRP Bulawayo game, Mthala faced another tough match against Hyda of Hwange.

In the first quarter, Mthala was leading by 14-12.

They managed to double up their lead to 4 goals at half-time with the scores at 25-21. The gap was increased in the 3rd quarter, where they led with 9 goals, 39-30, and eventually won the game 52-40.

The third game at RossCamp was more entertaining as it produced the first draw of the season.

Netball rarely records draws but ZRP Bulawayo and Hyda played out a thrilling 38-all stalemate.
