ZIMBABWE has announced the senior women netball team which is going to participate in an inaugural four-nation tournament known as the Celtic Cup to be hosted in Glasgow, Scotland, early next month.

The Gems will compete against Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland in the tournament scheduled to run from November 7 to 10 at the Emirates Arena.

The tournament was created by the three European countries to provide the best competitive tournament for athletes and spectators outside the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games.

But for the Gems, it is an opportunity to enhance the team`s strength, strategy and team work as they prepare for the qualifiers of the 2027 World Cup which will be held in Australia.

The 15-member team which was unveiled at the Cresta Jameson Hotel yesterday consists of senior players and two young players from the Under-21s as well as four team officials.

Speaking at the team unveiling ceremony, Zimbabwe Netball Association President Leticia Chipandu paid tribute to the team sponsors Nedbank Zimbabwe.
