BULAWAYO will be a hive of activity next week as the city hosts this year’s edition of the Confederation of Schools Sport Association of Southern Africa (Cossasa) games.
The games will be held in various venues in the country’s second largest city from August 26 to 29. The participating teams are the hosts Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi and Zambia
The teams will compete in football, handball, basketball, netball and volleyball for Under-15s (boys and girls) as well as Under-18s.
Lesotho was supposed to host athletics, which is usually separated from the ball games.
The games’ marketing and publicity chairperson, Dave Simba, said it’s all systems go for the sporting extravaganza, which brings together athletes from primary and secondary schools in the Sadc region.
“The games will run from August 26 to 29. The teams will arrive on August 25. August 26 will be registration and accreditation of all officials and teams that would have arrived. On August 27, we will have the official opening of the games and the games start and continue on August 28 and the finals will be played on August 29 at White City Stadium. Teams will depart on August 30,” Simba said.
