FORMER Warriors assistant coach Saul Chaminuka has emerged as the front runner for the head coach job at newly-promoted Eastern Region side Bikita Minerals.
Chaminuka is head coach at Black Rhinos, who were relegated at the end of the 2023 Premier Soccer League season.
He took over from Stix Mutizwa with high hopes of turning around the Black Rhinos’ fortunes.
However, all his efforts hit a snag, as the army side went on to be relegated alongside Craneborne Bullets, Sheasham and Triangle.
Chaminuka has emerged as the favourite to take over at Bikita Minerals, who won the Eastern Region promotion ticket via a boardroom decision.
Tongai Heydays Mugeji has been the team’s coach, leading the team to the elite league.

NewsDay Weekender Sport has it on good authority that Shabanie Mine coach Arnold Jani will also be roped in as assistant coach.
Club vice-chairman Harris Dumbu confirmed that Chaminuka is being considered for the job.
“He was shortlisted among other coaches but nothing is official. The list has other names but so far nothing is conclusive.”
