THE race for promotion in the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League has intensified, with TelOne and army side Tongogara embroiled in a riveting two-horse race.
TelOne suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Dulibadzimu over the weekend. The defeat saw the six-point gap slashed by Tongogara who beat Zvishavane's Loss Control 1-0. TelOne have 40 points on their tally, while Tongogara have collected 37 points. With nine games remaining before the curtain comes down, it remains to be seen who will walk away with the bragging rights.
Third-placed side ZPC Munyati, however, feel they still have a chance in the promotion race as they sit nine points behind TelOne. The electricity men have blown hot and cold since the season started. They beat Beitbridge outfit CM Academy 3-0 over the weekend.
Meanwhile, former Premier Soccer League outfit Chapungu are finding it difficult to sustain their hopes of returning to the elite league. The air force side sits on fourth position in the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League, with 28 points.
Even their recent technical changes have not inspired them to really mount a serious title challenge.
The same applies to Shabanie Mine who are 11th on the log standings with 14 points from 17 matches.
