FC PLATINUM coach Norman Mapeza hopes their win over Highlanders at the weekend can give them the momentum to kick in and string good results in the upcoming matches.
Tomorrow the reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions take on struggling Bulawayo Chiefs at Luveve stadium hoping to get only their second win in eight matches.
Pure Platinum Play stemmed a six match win-less run after putting up a splendid show to hand Bosso their first defeat of the season. Mapeza is wary of Chiefs who have managed just two points from their last six matches and last won on July 16 where they beat Triangle.
“We are facing Bulawayo Chiefs, they are a very good team but they have not been getting results of late, “Mapeza said. “I think we are in the same situation but after our win against Highlanders I hope it’s a sign of better things to come. We just have to pick up from where we left against Highlanders. Credit to the boys, they worked so hard.”
FC Platinum struck the right chord when they beat log leaders Highlanders 2-0 last weekend. They were so convincing in all respects and Mapeza is confident they can improve their position if they maintain the winning formula. Reigning Soccer Star of Year, Walter Musona was in devastating form for the platinum miners and Mapeza is hoping the former Polokwane City attacker replicates that tomorrow. He will have a few decisions to make on some players that are struggling for fitness but he is chuffed with the way they have prepared for tomorrow’s match.
"Our preparations have gone well. As you know we won the last match against Highlanders but that’s not our focus at the moment. I hope we are going to continue from where we left off. They (Bulawayo Chiefs) have their own challenges but we have to focus and work hard for a positive result. We don't look much into the statistics. Everyone is ready for the fixture. I hope the morale remains the same for us. It’s our wish to get desired results. Like I said last week, we have been playing some good football and I hope we will maintain it like that. This is a young squad," Mapeza said.

After beating Highlanders, they moved to sixth position, with 30 points on their tally. However the four-time title winners are eleven points behind leaders, Highlanders with 14 matches for each team left in the season.
