Diversified funeral and insurance services group Nyaradzo will commemorate its 22nd anniversary in style, with a big field of nearly 300 runners set to grace the Nyaradzo Run in Nyazura between tomorrow and Sunday.
For the past two years, Nyaradzo has organised the Nyazura Run, an event aimed at promoting wellness and community development.
The run is not just about physical fitness, but also about raising awareness about wellness issues and highlighting the need for investing in rural communities.
In the past, the organisers have donated books to Nzvimbe School, and this year, they are donating a classroom block to Mahere School.
The event is also an opportunity to partner with like-minded individuals and corporations to help bring development to the area, both as a way of giving back and creating shared value for the community.
“We view this as a social imperative with Nyazura being the community that raised our group chief executive officer Philip Mataranyika. Thus, the run holds a lot of sentimental value for him and our company,” said Nyaradzo spokesperson Prudence Muganiwah.
“The route that the athletes run is the same one that Mataranyika would run to school everyday, adding a personal touch to the event. The run is not just for professional athletes, but for anyone who want to participate, regardless of their fitness level. It provides an opportunity for people to come together and support a good cause while improving their health.
“We prioritise health and fitness as a company, and we believe that running is a great way to stay in shape. Additionally, it provides a great way to spend a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of busy urban areas.”
The event has become an important part of Nyazura’s social calendar and is eagerly anticipated every year.
The organisers are expecting a large turnout, and there will be prizes for the winners of different categories.
