BY TREVOR MUTSVAIRO ZIMBABWEAN batsman, Tarisai Kenneth Musakanda has been found guilty of culpable homicide, and was fined $ 30 000 by the courts after he was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of former tennis player, Gwinyai Chingoka.
Musakanda appeared before Harare magistrate Evelyn Mushavakure who described the accident as negligence on the part of the accused.
In her ruling, Mushavakure said she took into account that the accused failed to take a proper look-out while driving since it was dark and raining, while the now deceased was wearing dark colours .
She said imprisonment would be too harsh since the accused is already suffering from trauma, knowing that he caused the death of someone.
“Therefore a fine of $30 000 would be proper,” Mushavakure said.

Allegations were that Musakanda failed to exercise caution on the road, which resulted in him hitting Chingoka while he was crossing Simon Vengai Muzenda road.
Chingoka allegedly sustained fractures on the left leg and elbow due to the impact.
Musakanda stopped at the scene of the accident and ferried Chingoka to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to West End hospital where he died in January 2022 this year.
