PRETORIA University yesterday confirmed the capture of Warriors defender Patson Jaure from league champions Dynamos. HENRY MHARA
Jaure inked the deal on Tuesday last week before before returning to the country later in the week so that the club could start sorting out his work permit, as reported by this newspaper on Friday.
However, other media reports had suggested that the talks between the two parties had broken down because Dynamos were demanding large amounts of money for the defender which Pretoria University were not prepared to part with.
But the South African Premiership side yesterday evening confirmed on their Twitter handle that they have secured Jaure’s signature.
“We welcome Partson Jaure, Zimbabwean national team captain to AmaTuks. Great addition to the defence,” wrote the club.
Jaure had earlier on in the day confirmed to NewsDay Sport that he had signed on the dotted line and could be leaving the country for South Africa any time.

“I signed the contract last week, but there are some small things like work permit that need to be sorted out first before I could join them. I am waiting for them for the next step, but the club should be able to announce the deal very soon. I am happy to join the club, it’s a positive development for my career,” said Jaure.
Pretoria did not give the finer details of the contract, but a source yesterday said the 24-year-old signed a three-year contract. Dynamos were said to be holding out for $80 000, but a compromise was reached leading to the release of the player.
Jaure, according to standing Fifa rules and regulations on transfer of players, will receive 10% of the transfer figure. The club has signed Jaure to replace departing defender Buhle Mkhwanazi who is moving to Bidvest Wits.
Jaure did not go through the process of trials after impressing AmaTuks coach Clive Barker at the Chan tournament where he was the captain of the Warriors, leading the team to the semi-final stage.
However, he was one of the outstanding performers in the Zimbabwe team who was yet to find foreign suitors with a host of his teammates already outside the country.
George Chigova has already joined SuperSport and so did Erick Chipeta and Peter Rio Moyo who have signed for Chippa United and Black Aces respectively.
Kuda Mahachi was snapped up by Mamelodi Sundowns and returned to Downs this week from trials with Radamel Falcao’s French side Monaco while Milton Ncube has started work at Ajax Cape Town.
Simba Sithole was also signed by Ajax Cape Town soon after the Chan tournament, while Ali Sadiki is now with Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe.
Pretoria University is home to Warriors goalkeeper Washington Arubi who has been at the club for two seasons now and was voted Player of the Year in his debut season with the club.
The team has also confirmed the capture of Warriors midfielder Denver Mukamba in a season long loan from Bidvest Wits University. Meanwhile, Dynamos coach Kalisto Pasuwa said he prefers to play big teams rather than the so called “small teams”.
The Harare giants beat Caps United 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday to qualify to the semi-finals of the One Wallet Cup.
Rodreck Mutuma scored late in the match as Dynamos became the only seeded team from the quarterfinal draw to make it through to the semifinal stage after Highlanders, FC Platinum and Harare City – teams that finished in the top four last season – all fell by the way side over the weekend.
The other teams who made it to the semi-finals are Chicken Inn, Triangle and How Mine, all regarded as light weights in local football. The draw for the semis would be made in due course.
While many Dynamos supporters would be looking forward to the draw because of the teams that are left in the tournament, and seeing it as a chance to win their first major Cup this season, Pasuwa has a different feeling.
“We have always been victims of those small teams because they put extra effort when playing against us. I would have preferred the big teams because at the end of the day it is those small teams that end up playing like Highlanders. They always give us problems . . . we will have to play first and then talk later.” Last season, Dynamos were booted out of the Mbada Diamonds Cup by How Mine and were also eliminated from the BancABC Super Cup by another modest side, Shabanie Mine.
However, in the same year, they managed to beat Highlanders thrice in cup competitions to win the Independence Trophy and the Bob89 Super Cup which was played over two legs.
This season, Dynamos beat Harare City in the Charity Shield Cup and also beat Highlanders to clinch the Bob90.
It appears How Mine coach Philani Ncube is aware of the fact that Pasuwa dreads to meet the small teams, and has vowed that his side will win the One Wallet Cup if they were to meet Dynamos in the final.
The outspoken coach says he would want to avoid Dynamos in the semis and “prefer to meet them in the final, at any venue.” How Mine eliminated Highlanders 4-3 on penalties after the match, played at Ascot on Saturday, had ended 1-1 in regulation time.
The result was some kind of revenge for the mine team after they were humiliated 3-0 by Highlanders in the finals of the Mbada Diamonds Cup last year.
