The suspect, Emmanuel Chiota, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate, Vongai Muchuchuti facing murder charges.
Muchuchuti remanded the accused in custody to December 6 after advising him to apply for bail at the High Court.
Allegations against Emmanuel are that on Sunday at around noon, the deceased, whose name was not mentioned, was at her Kuwadzana home counselling him over drug abuse in the presence of her husband, Bodimen Chiota.
The State alleges Chiota then left the house, leaving the now-deceased in the counselling sessions, as he sought help from church members.

The State further alleges Emmanuel attacked and assaulted his mother with wooden stools, which were in the dining room.
The mother sought refuge in her bedroom, but Emmanuel allegedly followed and stabbed her in the neck with a pair of scissors, killing her on the spot.
The matter was then reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
Peter Kachirika appeared for the State.
