PRETORIA — An upcoming biopic based on Oscar Pistorius and the murder of Reeva Steenkamp is due to be released. Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer will depict Pistorius’ relationship with Steenkamp as well as the shooting and heavily-publicised trial that followed.
South Africa-born New York-based actor Andreas Damm plays the role of Pistorius, while German model Toni Garrn stars as Steenkamp. A one-minute trailer that was recently released has left South Africans extremely unimpressed.
Some people on social media pointed out the movie looked low-budget, and the title was grammatically incorrect.
“Blade Runner Killer as a title actually sounds like Oscar Pistorious was the one who was killed. Mara America?”
“The Blade Runner Killer trailer looks like a grade 9 Arts & Culture project.”
“Blade runner killer is a trash title too Bullet for my Valentine sounds way more interesting,” were some of the comments that followed after the trailer’s release.

Others criticised the South African accents, which many thought were strange and inaccurate.
“The accents in Blade Runner Killer won’t be the only trash thing about the movie. Cuz I just watched the trailer and NO.”
“Mara the accent in the trailer of Blade Runner Killer is a disrespect.”
The Lifetime movie will debut in the United States on November 11.
