FORMER Miss Tourism Zimbabwe’s Miss Personality 2011 Lungile Mathe is set to represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Supranational Beauty Pageant to be held in Belarus this Friday.
Report by Jairos Saunyama
The 23-year-old model, who in 2011 was dethroned by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority for her alleged involvement in “scandalous personal affairs”, will be battling for glory with a number of beauty pageants drawn from a number of countries in the world.
Mathe, who is popularly known as Cyclone Ree, is already in Belarus where she is preparing for the big event.
Speaking from Belarus where she arrived on August 18, Mathe said she would do her best to win the contest.
Mathe got the ticket to go to Belarus after being chosen by Sarah Mpofu, who is a licence holder with Miss Supranational Zimbabwe.

Mpofu said she is confident that Mathe would bring something home.
“I had not much time to scout for models since I only knew about the pageant a few weeks ago, so I thought Lungile was the best model for the job. She has experience in international modelling,” Mpofu said.
“She has been in China doing some modelling work and judging from her website stories on the event, she is really doing a good job.
“I am confident that she will excel and bring back home something. I know there will be stiff competition, but she will conquer and lift the national flag high.”
Mathe rose to the limelight through controversy when she was involved in a love scandal that saw her being dethroned before being reinstated on the instruction of Tourism minister Walter Mzembi.
In its fifth edition, the popular beauty pageant will see the queen being crowned at the majestic Palace of Minsk and Ekaterina Buraya.
Miss Supranational 2012 from Belarus will hand over the crown to her successor at the event.
