UCLG is an umbrella organisation for cities, local governments and municipal associations throughout the world.
Masunda was elected UCLG co-president in 2010.
In his invitation letter, UCLG secretary-general Josep Roig said: “Although we are aware that your term as mayor came to an end last June, we are still counting on your presence in the UCLG World Congress in Rabat where you would complete your mandate as president of UCLG.”
“You would be expected to chair part of the meetings of our statutory bodies and would be part of the celebration of our centenary,” Roig said.
