FORTY contestants from around the world participating in the much-hyped Miss Heritage World beauty pageant slated for December 7 are expected to converge in the country starting this week .

The finale will be held at the Harare International Conference Centre starting this week.
The pageant – which is running under the theme Promoting Tangible and Intangible Heritage – will see Sibusisiwe Mazibuko representing the country as the reigning Miss Heritage Zimbabwe Thabiso Phiri said she would be busy with her LLB law degree exams.
The pageant’s head of public relations, Noriya Shahadat, confirmed the developments adding that preparations were now at an advanced stage with models starting to jet into the country tomorrow.
“Miss Heritage World preparations are at an advanced stage and the pageant is expected to be attended by 40 countries which have so far confirmed sending their beauty queens.

“Miss Ecuador Tatiana Torres is jetting in tomorrow mid-day with the rest expected to be in by this week Friday (29) for the boot camp,” Shahadat said.
She said they had high hopes that they would successfully host a pageant of such global magnitude which is aimed at developing the nation as indicated by their Millennium Development Goals like eradicating poverty and unemployment, achieve universal primary education and develop a global partnership for development.
Shahadat said she was constantly in touch with the queens and they had all confirmed that they were ready to come and battle for the coveted title (Miss Heritage World) .
She said the models were so excited to be coming to Africa and staying in Zimbabwe during the competition.
“This international pageant is expected to be one of a kind as we seek to change the face of our local beauty pageants. The event will be broadcast live in all African countries, part of Europe, Asia, and America,” Shahadat said.
Some of the countries and their queens that have confirmed participation, according to the organisers, are Angola (Jesuinia De Fatima Andre Mario), Bahamas (Shequera Grace King), Botswana (Tatho Magosi), Brazil (Renata Lustosa), Gold Coast (Sandra Afutey), Democratic Republic of Congo (Ketia Sangwa Baraka), Ecuador (Tatiana Catalina Torres), Estonia (Annastassia Lestsenko), Ethiopia (Genet Tsegay), Gambia (Fanta Ceesay), Ghana (Carole Cornelius), Guinea (Aissatou Sakho), Guinea Bissau (Tatiana Mariama Djau), Guinea Conakry (Ramata Diallo), India (Swati Kain), Italy (Laura Piras), Latvia (Dita Elina), Lesotho (Rorisang Motlomelo), Namibia (Salmi Nambinga), Nigeria (Stephnora Boniface), Russia (Nataliya Poluektova), Sao Tome (Neide Rodrigues), Siera Leone (Ramzian Suma), South Africa (Pearl Mthembu), Togo (Christina Koagni), West Africa (Rita Aseidu), Zambia (Naomi Banda and Ruth Masukabantu).
