GOSPEL maestro Mechanic Manyeruke has been honoured for his 40-year music journey with the installation of a borehole at his Masvori village in Masvingo by a new music promoter, Rayclash Trading director William Mikaye.

Speaking at the Gospel Explosion Show held in Hwange on Saturday last week, Manyeruke said he was still waiting for the vehicle which Africa Pride Network boss Shepherd Sirevu is yet to deliver since promising the gospel guru in October last year.

“As I speak, I am drinking water from the borehole which was installed at my home village by my new promoter Mikaye. He honoured my 40-year music career by holding a special gospel show in October last year at which time Sirevu came in and said he had bought me a car. Since then I have had promises of the car being delivered to me, but it seems there is no light at the end of the tunnel,” Manyeruke said.

Mikaye, who is also the director of Eternity Productions, dispelled rumours that he was working in conjunction with Sirevu in an effort to honour the gospel maestro.

“What I am doing is not about business at all, I have a passion for music and I am a member of CCAP Voice of Mbare. I thought about this idea of promoting other musicians who lack promotion, this is why I have roped in Mathias Mhere, Bethan Pasinawako, Vabati Vajehova and Voice of Mbare itself,” Mikaye said.

“I would also want to clear the air as regards my claimed association with Sirevu. I am not in any way part of his agenda. He promised to give Manyeruke a car and we are all waiting for him to deliver on his promise. He asked to join me last year on my gospel event to honour Manyeruke and I agreed thinking we had the same idea, but it has turned out he had other motives.”

The Hwange Gospel Explosion was held alongside the shooting of a video by CCAP Voice of Mbare in Victoria Falls for their latest album titled Kune Musha.

The Hwange community was left speechless as the gospel artistes churned out their traditional songs which left the revellers calling for more.

As has been the norm of late by the quartet of gospel groups, Mhere, Pasinawako, Vabati VaJehova and the Voice of Mbare thrilled the gospel fans with their meticulous performances on stage.

Other upcoming Hwange and Victoria Falls artistes also participated including a group called New Revelations led by Victor Sibanda.
