Chinengundu’s daughter Nyasha Zindoga came to NewsDay yesterday saying that her mother was not able to come to the newsroom because she is bedridden and hence cannot walk.
“She was admitted to Harare [Central] Hospital, but a doctor advised her to undergo hip replacement surgery. She was discharged from the hospital because there was no money for the surgery.
“She then went to Karanda Hospital in Mt Darwin where she was told that $500 was required for that operation and a date had been set this month for the surgery.
“She couldn’t be operated on because she had no money, so that is why I have come on her behalf to seek help.

“She has spent the past year indoors and we have to lift her to go to the toilet. Karanda Hospital is a lot cheaper and that is our only hope,” said a distraught Zindoga.
Chinengundu, who is a widow, is a lodger in Glen Norah A and lives alone because all her four children are either married or not able to assist her financially.
