DISRUPTIONS at Hwange Power Station have increased load-shedding as power generation has been reduced.

As of yesterday power generation for the country stood at 983 megawatts which is way below the normal overall output that the country receives when all things are normal.

In a statement Zesa Holdings said that load-shedding had increased outside the publicised scheduled due to a technical fault at Hwange Power Station.

“Currently there are two units generating at Hwange Power Station and customers will experience suppressed power supplies until generation is brought to normal levels. Zesa engineers and technicians are working to restore generation to normal levels and customers will be updated accordingly during the restoration process,” the company said in a statement.

An official from the power utility said “We have tube leaks on units 1 and 6. These two will be back on load tomorrow (Thursday) and Kariba unit 6 will be back on load this Friday.”
