PUBLISHERS of My United Africa (MUA) a United Kingdom (UK)-based magazine have officially recruited Wadzanai Gumbo-Ndlovu to be their Zimbabwe representative who will spearhead preparations for the Mr and Miss United Africa beauty pageant.

Ndlovu played an instrumental role in organising an interview between Peace Ndlovu, known as Ba Shupi and MUA magazine editor-in-chief Lyida Heather Mudhari back in 2013, which impressed the editor who later sent an email to Gumbo-Ndlovu in January this year.
“I am required to organise the first part, which is photo shoots for the magazine, which involves getting local designers, make-up artists, models, venues, photographers and sponsors to showcase our local talent around the country,” said Gumbo-Ndlovu The magazine was set up by the sponsors of Miss Africa Scotland, a UK-based beauty pageant.
MUA started off in Bulawayo last week Monday with a photo shoot. The Harare shoot is expected tomorrow at the National Art Gallery.
Gumbo-Ndlovu said make up sponsors on board included the local Langa Cosmetics owned by Langa Lloyd, MW Designs owned by Muneer Walele and DStv Zimbabwe whose platforms are being used to promote the event through competitions, while other sponsors are still in negotiations.

“This project involves 54 countries and I am humbled to have been promoted to the country representative for three countries — Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia,” said Gumbo-Ndlovu.
Several young African men and women from all over the world will compete for the tittles Mr and Miss United Africa which is expected in August this year.
Contestants will be judged on their best shots from photo shoots, personality, public speaking, presentation and a humanitarian goal, while selected finalists will go on a trip to an international destination for the final shoot and live show.
“I have the chance to show the world what a beautiful country we have and the abundance of talent in the country. Within the last decade I have been working around the arts which has now come to bloom as other countries are now seeking my services,” said Gumbo-Ndlovu.
According to MUA, Zimbabwe has been chosen to host the pageant for 2015 which will be staged at Victoria Falls, Kariba and Great Zimbabwe.
“It is a decision inspired by the European Union’s desire to honour the country with an award for the world’s best tourist destination,” said MUA Magazine.
