A 43-YEAR-OLD man from Tshabanda Line under Chief Gampu in Tsholotsho, Matabeleland North province, has been arrested for allegedly raping his 12-year-old daughter on several occasions.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda said the complainant (name withheld) was left in the custody of her father after her grandmother had travelled to South Africa.
Banda said the accused ordered the complainant to sleep in the same bedroom with him before raping her sometime in April this year.
“The accused person then asked the complainant to remove her clothes and she complied. He then proceeded to rape her once. He threatened his daughter not to disclose the matter to anyone,” he said.
It is alleged that the accused raped his daughter on several occasions until July 15 when she disclosed the matter to an adult from the neighbourhood.
The matter was reported to ZRP Tsholotsho, leading to the arrest of the accused.
