HARARE, Mar.25 (NewsDayLive)- High Court judge Justice Esther Muremba has sentenced a Hurungwe to two life sentences for killing his two children aged five and three.
Learnmore Chimhonza had told the court that he was mentally challenged when he committed the offence.
Justice Muremba said there was nothing to prove that he was mentally challenged, and had no known history of mental illness as testified by State witnesses.
Prosecutor Caroline Mutimusakwa submitted that the murders were committed in aggravating circumstances and proposed two life prison terms.
Justice Muremba in delivering the sentence stated that the convict deserved nothing short of life imprisonment.
The judge stated that Chimhonza had committed an unimaginable cruel act of burying his daughters alive in order to start a new life with his new wife.
