HARARE, Mar. 15 (NewsDay Live) – The body of a fisherman who went missing earlier this week, was recovered on Saturday at Red Cliff Island, on Lake Kariba.
Isaac Parichi was on a boat with another fisherman, Aleck Pembere, from Arda-Gache Gache fishing camp to Kariba town when their vessel was hit by a storm and sank on the lake. The vessel was carrying two fridges filled with fish, paddles, and life jackets among other things.
The vessel has since been recovered.
Pembere was rescued by the crew of another vessel, while a search and rescue operation made up of authorities and locals was launched for the missing Parichi.
Parichi's body was discovered on Saturday afternoon at Redcliff Island.
"It's a sad day for the community of Kariba," Marshal Mushore, the administrator of the Kariba Residents Trust told NewsDay Live.

The recovery of Parichi's body has brought closure to his family and friends, who had been holding out hope for his safe return.
