HIGH Court judge Justice Regis Dembure has released a suspected armed robber on US$800 bail in a case involving US$238 000 theft at a local company last year.

The suspect Kelly Chinaka (29), who is being represented by Moffat Makuvatsine, is facing a robbery charge.

It is the State’s case that Chinaka connived with Kennedy Mbundire, Owen Mutera, Tedious Desmond Munyaradzi Mhungira and three others, who are still at large to rob the complainant of his money.

The court heard that the suspected robbers produced an unidentified pistol and held the guards on duty hostage to gain entry into the complainant’s company premises, where they broke in and used a grinder to open safes and stole US$238 000.

The accused allegedly shared the loot.

According to court documents, there is confirmation of calls made between Chinaka and her accomplices soon after committing the crime. Of the stolen US$238 000, only US$6 500 was recovered by CID Homicide detectives.
