THE Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) at Beitbridge has seized a consignment of alcoholic beverages worth US$84 741,58 which the organisation itself sold to a bidder at an auction three days earlier.
The successful bidder at the public auction, who bought the assortment of whiskies and brandy, is now stuck outside the Beitbridge Border Post warehouse, the same place the liquor was stored at the time of purchase.
They are considering abandoning the deal.
The manager responsible for the warehouse, who apparently led the team that seized the consignment, a Ms Chiyangwa, said she was busy in a meeting when asked to comment on the embarrassing boob.
“Can I call you later, I am in a meeting,” she said before dropping the call.
According to a representative of Liquor City, the successful bidder, after paying for the liquor, they hired transport to a storage place while arranging for their trip to Harare.

When logistics to carry the products to Harare were complete, Zimra officials arrived in three vehicles and ordered them back to the border despite the buyers producing receipts that showed they had purchased the beverages at the tax collector’s auction.
“We are contemplating returning the liquor and get refunded because in the movement and off-loading, there were some breakages and thefts. We did not expect this for goods bought from them,” the representative said.
