A suspected armed robber from Zimbabwe has had his feet chopped off after he was cornered along the banks of the Limpopo River near Beitbridge where he operated from.

It is suspected that people he may have crossed paths with in his criminal activities were responsible for the dismemberment. Gory images posted on social media in Beitbridge showed the man lying immobilised on the ground while his chopped off feet were next to him.

It is understood the yet-to-be unidentified man but believed to be from the Renco Mine area in Masvingo, was part of a group that terrorised smugglers using informal crossing points to and from South Africa.

A voice note that accompanied the images explained how he was caught by his assailants who cut his feet.

“Look at what has happened on the SA side, there is a robber who has had his legs chopped off by the river.

“Police have refused to ferry him to hospital, he is still at the place. It is believed he is from Renco Mine. He was caught by the river (Limpopo),” the voice note said.
