SOFAR Sounds Harare alumni Dudu Manhenga will perform at the second edition of the Diplomatic Charity Bazaar hosted by the Diplomatic Spouses Association (DSA).
This will be Manhenga's second appearance, having performed at the first charity bazaar hosted at the French School in Harare in 2013, where the DSA facilitated an event to raise funds for the girlchild.
The bazaar to be held at Old Georgians Sports Club in Mt Pleasant, Harare, is an international event that brings together the diplomatic community, local Zimbabweans and visitors alike to celebrate their cultures, diversity and goodwill.
It features a diverse entertainment programme.
Besides being a cultural celebration, it is also a charity event.
Proceeds will go towards supporting various charitable projects that are assisted by the association.

In 2012 the much-travelled songbird performed for Pope Benedict XVI and received the Italian 25th Grand Prix Award for Social Communication.
Her music is described as an Afro-jazz adventure fusion of genres from Afro to contemporary, Zimbabwe traditional, township, jazz, Latino and a cultural crossover of the country’s Manyika, Shona and IsiNdebele rhythms and melodies.
Besides a music career spanning more than three decades, Manhenga's passion for assisting the underprivileged and has inspired her to set up a school registered with the Primary and Secondary Education ministry's correspondence school department. The school is for children in her community who require assistance.
“The cause of this event is close to my heart as a social entrepreneur because these are issues, I deal with daily. The school we run, named Almanac, is our commitment to serving those among us who need a helping hand,” she said in a statement released early this week.
Her constant call is for basic donations such as stationery, books, shoes, clothing, sanitary wear, desks, fencing and other building materials.
She is also inviting privileged schools to partner and is also encouraging motivational visits from professionals to inspire and give children a vision for their future.
Visitors will have the chance to buy raffle tickets at the DSA stall, with exciting prizes to be won, such as return tickets to Dubai courtesy of the United Arab Emirates embassy and the Emirates Airline.
Prizes also include a flight ticket from Zimbabwe to Namibia courtesy of Fly Namibia, Patrick Mavros jewellery and stays at top lodges in Zimbabwe such as Tembo Plains Camp, The Peech Boutique Hotel, St. Tropez Luxury Hotel, or private tented camps such as Dana B Savanna Camp, spa and brunch vouchers for Hyatt Regency The Meikles in Harare and many other up for grabs.
The DSA is open to all spouses of accredited members of diplomatic missions in Harare.
It supports expatriate spouses, promotes social and cultural interactions among members and Zimbabweans and raises funds for charitable institutions across Zimbabwe.
The association is an informal, voluntary, non-profit, non-political, non-religious and self-supporting association that was founded in 1981.
