FOUR people were injured Monday when a commuter omnibus they boarded from Heights to Nyamhunga in Kariba veered off the road, rammed into an electric pole before landing on its roof.
The omnibus was carrying 18 passengers when the accident happened.
Acting police commanding officer for Kariba district Superintendent Saul Mhanqwa said the driver lost control of the vehicle while descending a steep slope.
"Four individuals sustained injuries and were promptly taken to Kariba District Hospital for treatment," Mhanqwa said.
“Fortunately, they have since been discharged."
Mhanqwa urged drivers to be cautious when navigating the resort town’s steep slopes and sharp curves.

"Recent statistics show that human error is the leading cause of road accidents in Zimbabwe," he noted.
"It is imperative that drivers take necessary precautions to preserve lives on these perilous roads."
Road accidents are a significant concern in Zimbabwe, with a high rate of fatalities and injuries.
According to the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, between January and September 2023, there were 38,482 road accidents countrywide, resulting in 1 545 deaths and 7 294 injuries.
This translates to approximately 141 road accidents per day, with most incidents occurring on weekend nights and holidays, particularly during the festive season .
