CITIZENS Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator Tafadzwa Ngadziore is suing State security agents for US$150 000 compensation for the damages he suffered following his alleged abduction last year.
Ngadziore was allegedly abducted in the capital late last year, tortured and later dumped in Christon Bank in Mazowe.
He was hospitalised after sustaining injuries, at the hands of gun-brandishing abductors outside his residence in Harare, while he was on his way to attend a parliamentary session at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.
Shortly before his abduction, Ngadziore shared an eerily seven-second Facebook live post where he was being pursued by two armed men believed to be State security agents.
The opposition legislator later learnt of the identity of his tormentors through social media reports which unmasked their identity.
Ngadziore, represented by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), is suing two Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives Nicholas Kajese and Abraham Pasi, CIO director-general Isaac Moyo, ZRP commissioner-general Godwin Matanga and Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe for the abduction and torture.

In summons filed at the Harare High Court recently, Ngadziore through his lawyers argue that there was no lawful basis for him to be deprived of liberty, adding that he had not committed any offence to warrant such inhuman, degrading treatment and punishment.
He also argues that his abduction and torture violated his right to freedom of personal security enshrined in section 52 of the Constitution, his right to freedom from torture, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishment.
“Ngadziore, who disclosed that his tormentors wore balaclavas and were armed with assault rifles, said he suffered excruciating pain and mental anguish and also felt greatly humiliated and degraded as a result of the abduction and torture perpetrated on him by Kajese and Pasi and their colleagues,” the statement issued by ZLHR read.
“Out of the US$150 000 that Ngadziore is demanding as compensation for his abduction and torture, US$50 000 will be damages for pain and suffering, US$50 000 will be damages for unlawful deprivation of liberty and US$50 000 will cover damages for humiliation, affront to dignity and embarrassment.”
