A ZIMBABWEAN soldier is in trouble after he was used by a Harare woman to intimidate her husband to relocate to South Africa in search for greener pastures.
Sikumbuzo Hakata (38), from Dzivarasekwa, was arraigned before Harare magistrate Apollonia Marutya over the weekend charged with assault and contravening the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
He was released on US$50 bail and ordered to return to court on July 30 pending further investigations.
Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira told the court that Hakata committed the offence in August last year when he connived with Winnie Munangatire to threaten Tinashe Gwitima (38), the latter’s husband.
Hakata allegedly told Gwitima that if he continued to stay in Zimbabwe, his life will be in danger.
Chanakira further alleged that on August 4 last year, Hakata teamed up with two male accomplices who are still at large and went to Gwitima’s house in Belvedere West, where Munangatire ushered them into house.

The court heard that Hakata assaulted Gwitima, accusing him of sponsoring the Citizens Coalition for Change.
His accomplices allegedly also took part in the assault of Gwitima while pouring water on him.
Hakata allegedly ordered Gwitima to leave Zimbabwe with immediate effect lest he risked further assault.
Chanakira further submitted that on October 11 last year, Hakata heard that Gwitima had returned from South Africa and sent him a text message threatening further assault.
Gwitima reported the matter to the police, leading to Hakata’s arrest.
Chanakira told the court that Gwitima positively identified Hakata, while police investigations revealed that the latter used his cellphone to threaten his alleged victim.
